Christmas Cards, Batch #2

Here’s the second batch of Xmas cards that I made.

These are a variation of the first batch.

The snowflakes are from a stamp set by stampin up. I don’t know which one, because it doesn’t have the container anymore. I love that they keep their stamps in containers because they are so much easier to store that way.

I went over the snowflakes with a Martha Stewart glue pen and glitter. The letters are from a stamp set by All Night Media, called Ornamental.

The pop up dots are also by All Night Media.

Now, to make the gift tags!

Day 339: The Butterflies thank you

Quote:

“Whether one believes in a religion or not, or believes in rebirth or not, there isn’t anyone who doesn’t appreciate kindness and compassion.”

-The Dalai Lama

It almost seems repetitious, doesn’t it? It doesn’t really matter what you believe in. Everyone deserves true compassion. Not being nice to someone, in hopes that you’ll convert them to your religious beliefs. That’s not compassion. True compassion goes unnoticed by others. It gives and says and does without hopes of any compensation.

Today, I made a set of cards, the last set in a set of three different kinds of cards, for a friend who ordered them.

I think she’ll like it, don’t you?

Today is a rainy day in New York City, and so it’s a perfect day to stay home and hang out with my little one. I have to get my little one back to her schedule. She was taken off due to my husband and his desire to see her in the evenings when he gets home from work. He gets home very late though, and it’s hard on me to keep her awake until 9pm or later when he gets home. I put her on a schedule, so we both can have time to rest, and have fun.

Anyway so that’s that.

Day 308: A Sunny Patch of Sunflowers

Quote:

“If the basic human nature was aggressive, we would have been born with animal claws and huge teeth.”

-The Dalai Lama

This reminds me of the quote from the sixties, “Make love, not war”. It’s true. Rather than respond with hostility and anger, we should respond with peace.

We shouldn’t allow our peace to be waivered by the happenings of our everyday life.

Today, I made a set of cards for a swap I’m in.

Do you like it? It’s for a sunflower card swap. I made a set of four, two for each partner.

I also started a necklace for a swap I’m in.

I love it so far! I have a glass tile that’s going to be the pendant. I saw a similar necklace on “Prue” from Charmed, and had to make a similar one.

It’s too hot here in NYC. Oh, and I went to the doctor and found out what’s wrong with my lady parts. So it turns out it’s nothing bad, but I can’t tell you for a bit. I’ll keep you in suspense, then till you in say…6 more weeks. That’s the only hint I’m giving, so don’t ask me.

Day 297: Birthday Keepsake Card

Quote:

“It is said that if you want to know what you were doing in the past, look at your body now.”\

-The Dalai Lama

Your body tells an interesting story. Is that it? YEs. Your body, the way you carry yourself, your manners, the way you eat in public, your posture….all these things tell a story of what you’ve gone through.

It’s a good idea to keep our bodies healthy, and maintained. I’m trying. I am slowly giving up red meat. And today, starts me yoga practice again! I am going to do yoga every day, if I can. If I add it to my daily routine, I know I’ll do it. I’ll just add it in, after my morning crafty time. My daughter does it with me, so that’s not a problem. She loves it. So that’s my resolution for keeping my body healthy.

You’ll notice that yesterday I didn’t blog. This is because I am totally not feeling well, at all. It’s my “lady parts”. They are acting up and causing me lots of physical pain.

Also, today is my mother in law’s birthday, and so we celebrated it yesterday. I’ll show you the card I made.

I made her a keepsake card, that she can keep as a memory of her family.

I really like it! I used Tim Holt’z grunge board, my own homemade glimmer mist (inside the Ranger Ink’s mister thingies), A butterfly frame from Tattered angels, glitter by stampin up, and flowers by Prima. And the decorative paper by Colorbok. And the ink by Stampin up.

I like it. And she liked the earrings I also made her. At least that’s what she told me, anyway.

Well, this week is supposed to be a heat wave here in New York City. So that means more sweltering sweating nasty heat. And lots of sunblock. I try to go out when it’s hot, so that I don’t waste too much money on the A/C. It’s expensive, you know? Although it is nice to just hibernate away from the nasty oven like heat.

Day 289: A Card for True Love

Quote:

“A dog is not considered a good dog because he is a good barker. A man is not considered a good man because he is a good talker.”
-The Buddha

Why? Because actions speak louder than words. No one really cares about the words you speak; it is the actions that follow, that mean something substantial. Don’t just speak things, do them. Let your life be your message; because sometimes it’s annoying to “preach” your values to others. To me, it means more when I look at your life, and realize that you mean what you profess to believe in.

Today, I made a card.

Do you like it? I do. I got the template here. I like this card. Here’s another couple shots:

What do you think?

A card like this should be wrapped in tissue with a ribbon, rather than you go nuts trying to design an envelope large enough to fit this card. The papers and sticker is from K & Co, and the flower is from Oriental Trading Co.

What else? I have to work on another book, for a class I’m teaching in July. I better get cracking, July is around the corner! It’s hot as heck out. I don’t know what to cook when it’s this hot out. Chicken salad, perhaps?

Day 287: Owl Magnets

Quote:

“A good friend who points out mistakes and imperfections and rebukes evil is to be respected as if he reveals a secret of hidden treasure.”

-The Buddha

You know why this is? Because a real friend isn’t going to stay quiet when you make mistakes. Real friendships aren’t about the shallowness of flattering my ego all the time. Of course, if you want a shallow friendship, that’s up to you. But me? I prefer for my friends to be honest with me.

Anyway, today I made a set of owl magnets. But before I post the picture, I wanted to say that I think yesterday’s craftiness was a bit of a craft fail. Don’t you think? I don’t know. Anyway, here’s the owl magnets:

These are for sale, in my shop.

Another item for sale, is this card. I made it last saturday, when I went to my friend’s card making thingamajig.

Cool, right? The envelope is hand made as well as the card. I mostly do this because I run out of envelopes and it’s nice to make the envelopes, don’t you think?

Anyway, I’m off today to help my friend pack. She’s moving, and has a couple kids. What else? It’s hot as heck! Does anyone else out there feel utterly uninspired to cook? I SO do not want to cook lately. It’s just too hot!
