Day 357: Matchbox Shrines, with friends

“Selfishness of mind causes ignorance, anger, and passion — which are at the root of all the troubles of the world.”

-The Dalai Lama

What does that mean, selfishness of mind? Thinking selfish thoughts. Thinking. selfish.

It’s defined in the dictionary as:

devoted to or caring only for oneself; concerned primarilywith one’s own interests, benefits, welfare, etc., regardlessof others.

Hmm. So THINKING selfishly is when you’re just thinking of yourself, only. Thinking of YOU only. Think of others. Think of others FIRST. Think of the well being of your children, your family, your community.

Contrary to popular belief, you are indeed, NOT the most important person in life. Labels only add to this selfishness. Who cares. No one cares about it. This is only just a level of selfishness that you add to your life, to make yourself seem bigger or better than what you really are. Repeat after me: no one cares about the stupid labels I add to myself. Be creative, be loving, be yourself, but just be it. Don’t call yourself something. Just be it. And then, you don’t have to call yourself things.

Today, I had some friends over. We made matchbox shrines. Here’s a few shots.

Anyway, we had fun! I have another event tomorow. We’re going to be making paper dolls in little recycled altoid tins.
